BIOS update via UEFI: Build-in UEFI Shell

| F.A.Q.Support

BIOS updates can be done in several ways, one of which is to use the UEFI shell.

Where does the BIOS come from?

The latest BIOS, of course, can be found on Supermicro's website or obtained from the distributor.

Upgrade via UEFI: Build-in UEFI Shell

Follow the following instructions:

  1. Save the archive to your computer.
  2. Unzip the files to a USB key with FAT32 file system.
  3. Boot the computer by pressing F11 to wake up the boot menu, select the built-in UEFO shell:
    • UEFI:Build-in UEFI Shell
  4. Go to block device FS0:
    • FS0:
  5. Display directories and files
    • dir
  6. Execute the following command:
    • flash.NSH nazwaBIOS.xxx (np. flash.NSH x11scd.img).
  7. Wait until the process is complete. DO NOT interrupt this process under any circumstances, an interruption may result in the need to send the disc to the Service, so when something goes wrong, do not shut down the server.
  8. When the update is complete, the screen displays a message to that effect, restart the server using CTRL+ALT+DEL, then disconnect the power supply and clear the CMOS (using the JBT1 jumper).
  9. Connect the power supply, load the default settings F3 and save them - F4.
